Born Pretty Store Temperature Changing Thermal Pigment Review

In this post, I will be reviewing some temperature changing thermal pigment from BornPrettyStore. I think thermal pigments and polishes are so neat. I only have one temperature changing polish, so when I saw this pigment, and the drastic color change shown on the website, I HAD to take a closer look at this pigment. Let's see what the powder looks like:

The pigment came in this shiny holographic bag

Inside the bag was the container of pigment and an eye shadow-type sponge

The container is a clear square container. It reminds me of a diamond because of how the sides are shaped

The container has a seal on it. Before I pulled the seal off, I tapped the container on the table a few times to reduce the amount of pigment on the inside of the seal

My camera is showing the pigment more blue than it is in person. It looks like a matte turquoise, bluish green powder. This is color #7

The Born Pretty Store website says this powder works best with a No-Wipe top coat. Unfortunately, the top coat I ordered still hasn't shown up, so I need to figure out what I can do to make this work. After testing many different top coats and polishes, and reading the instructions on the website again, I got an idea. If I follow the directions with regular gel top coat, I MIGHT be able to get results that are somewhat picture-worthy. So I got to work on a fake nail. It seems like it has worked. Now on to my nails!

I painted my nails with a pale pink color (mostly because I have patches on most of my nails, and I didn't want them to show through). Then, I topped that with one coat of Seche Vite. I tried rushing the process and didn't wait long enough for the Seche Vite to dry. I painted each nail with a thin coat of regular gel top coat and cured them for 15 seconds. Next, I carefully used the eye shadow sponge to pick up the pigment and gently tap it into the half-cured gel top coat. Once I was satisfied with the coverage, I VERY carefully painted one more coat of gel top coat over the pigment and cured my nails for 45 seconds (as recommended on my bottle of top coat). Unfortunately, I found out very quickly that rushing this was a bad idea. The Seche Vite wasn't dry enough and my gel made the Seche Vite quite wrinkled. Here's what they looked like at this point:

As soon as I took that picture, I removed my polish and prepared to start over. Seeing how the pink polish showed through, this time I chose to go with OPI Vanilla-zuela, a pale nude color. Then, I topped them with Seche Vite. This time, I let them dry for about an hour. I knew the Seche Vite would be completely dry by then. Next, I painted my regular gel polish on, just as I did before, curing for 15 seconds. I gently applied the pigment once again and topped it with another coat of gel polish. I cured my nails for 45 seconds, and the results were MUCH better! Here is how they look now:

In this picture, my hands were warm, and the tips of my nails were cool. My camera is still not picking up the green in this pigment. It is slightly more green or teal than this picture shows.

I decided to stamp my nails with one of my favorite plates. This is from the Born Pretty Store website. It is from plate BP-17. You can find this plate here. My nails look much more blue than they do in person. They are more of a teal green in person. I stamped them using Holland Blue (a pastel purple) from Mundo de Unas.

I absolutely LOVE this pigment!!! It is so much fun. I couldn't stop taking pictures of it changing!

Overall, I am over the moon in LOVE with this pigment! The change is very noticeable, unlike some of the thermal polishes. I definitely NEED more of these pigments!!!
