Born Pretty Store Temperature Changing Thermal Pigment Review

In this post, I will be reviewing some temperature changing thermal pigment from BornPrettyStore. I think thermal pigments and polishes are so neat. I only have one temperature changing polish, so when I saw this pigment, and the drastic color change shown on the website, I HAD to take a closer look at this pigment. Let's see what the powder looks like:

The pigment came in this shiny holographic bag

Inside the bag was the container of pigment and an eye shadow-type sponge

The container is a clear square container. It reminds me of a diamond because of how the sides are shaped

The container has a seal on it. Before I pulled the seal off, I tapped the container on the table a few times to reduce the amount of pigment on the inside of the seal

My camera is showing the pigment more blue than it is in person. It looks like a matte turquoise, bluish green powder. This is color #7

Here is a closer look at the pigment. This picture is closer to the color the pigment is in person.

The Born Pretty Store website says this powder works best with a No-Wipe top coat. Unfortunately, the top coat I ordered still hasn't shown up, so I need to figure out what I can do to make this work. After testing many different top coats and polishes, and reading the instructions on the website again, I got an idea. If I follow the directions with regular gel top coat, I MIGHT be able to get results that are somewhat picture-worthy. So I got to work on a fake nail. It seems like it has worked. Now on to my nails!

I painted my nails with a pale pink color (mostly because I have patches on most of my nails, and I didn't want them to show through). Then, I topped that with one coat of Seche Vite. I tried rushing the process and didn't wait long enough for the Seche Vite to dry. I painted each nail with a thin coat of regular gel top coat and cured them for 15 seconds. Next, I carefully used the eye shadow sponge to pick up the pigment and gently tap it into the half-cured gel top coat. Once I was satisfied with the coverage, I VERY carefully painted one more coat of gel top coat over the pigment and cured my nails for 45 seconds (as recommended on my bottle of top coat). Unfortunately, I found out very quickly that rushing this was a bad idea. The Seche Vite wasn't dry enough and my gel made the Seche Vite quite wrinkled. Here's what they looked like at this point:
Yikes! This is NOT a pretty look!!!

As soon as I took that picture, I removed my polish and prepared to start over. Seeing how the pink polish showed through, this time I chose to go with OPI Vanilla-zuela, a pale nude color. Then, I topped them with Seche Vite. This time, I let them dry for about an hour. I knew the Seche Vite would be completely dry by then. Next, I painted my regular gel polish on, just as I did before, curing for 15 seconds. I gently applied the pigment once again and topped it with another coat of gel polish. I cured my nails for 45 seconds, and the results were MUCH better! Here is how they look now:
My camera is turning the pigment more blue than it is in person, but this is the "cold" color

In this picture, my hands were warm, and the tips of my nails were cool. My camera is still not picking up the green in this pigment. It is slightly more green or teal than this picture shows.
Here is a macro shot of this pigment, half warm and half cool

I decided to stamp my nails with one of my favorite plates. This is from the Born Pretty Store website. It is from plate BP-17. You can find this plate here. My nails look much more blue than they do in person. They are more of a teal green in person. I stamped them using Holland Blue (a pastel purple) from Mundo de Unas.

I absolutely LOVE this pigment!!! It is so much fun. I couldn't stop taking pictures of it changing!

Here is one last macro after I stamped

Overall, I am over the moon in LOVE with this pigment! The change is very noticeable, unlike some of the thermal polishes. I definitely NEED more of these pigments!!! If you like thermal color changing nails, you will be pleased with this pigment. And it is possible to use with regular gel polish; no need to buy anything special. You can find this pigment in 13 different colors on the Born Pretty Store website, here. They also have tons of other great nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store Blue Holographic Laser Powder Review

In this post, I will be reviewing some blue holographic laser powder from BornPrettyStore. I love holographic nail polish. I have been very curious how this powder compares to the polishes. I cannot wait to open the container and check it out. Let's take a look at the powder.
The powder comes in this green and white bag

Inside the bag, you will find the container of powder and an eye shadow-type sponge

The container is a clear square container. It reminds me of a diamond because of the way the edges are shaped.

The container has a seal on it. Before I peeled it off, I tapped the container on the table a couple times to reduce the amount of powder on the inside of the seal.

Wow! Look at that sparkle! It looks so pretty!!!

Here is a macro shot of the glitter. It was so sparkly, but my camera didn't pick it all up.

The Born Pretty Store website says to use a No-Wipe gel top coat. I ordered one from eBay, but it still hasn't shown up. I have to try to make this work with what I have on hand. I did several tests and the product that worked the best was Orly Bonder.

I painted each nail a different color. I wanted to see the difference the base color would make. I painted my index finger with Funky Fingers Bizerk Turq, my middle finger with OPI Vanilla-zuela, my ring finger with Funky Fingers Gesso, and my pinky with Funky Fingers Dark Knight. Here are the 4 polishes I used:

Once I painted each color on my nails, I topped each one with Seche Vite. I waited for that to be nice and dry, and it was time to use the Bonder. One nail at a time, I applied the Bonder, let it dry a few minutes, and then used my silicone "brush" tool I got on eBay. You can see the set of 3 "brushes" here. I seemed to get better results using this than the eye shadow sponge. I used the chisel shaped tool for this powder.
After the Bonder dried for a few minutes, I dipped the end of the silicone brush in the powder, and gently rubbed it into the Bonder. I continued this until I was happy with my coverage. Then I moved on to the next nail. I topped each nail with regular gel topcoat. Here is what I have:

Let's take a closer look at each nail:

My favorite one is over Bizerk Turq because it is the closest color to the powder and the base color doesn't stand out as much. However, I think it is a very neat look over black!

I chose to do a design with this powder over Bizerk Turq since I liked that look the best. I started out by painting two coats of that on my nails, and topped that with one coat of Seche Vite.

Next, I put one coat of Orly bonder on one nail, and waited for that to dry a bit. Once it was ready, I used the silicone brush tool to apply the powder. Then I sealed it in with one more coat of Seche Vite. After all my nails were done, I stamped them with plate BPL-029 from the Born Pretty Store website. You can find that plate here. I used Mundo de Unas black to stamp my flowers. Then finished my design off with one last coat of Seche Vite. Here is the final look:
This was inside with my OttLite

This was outside, it was mostly cloudy so I couldn't see the beautiful holo shining through.
Overall, I am very pleased with the results I got with this powder. It is super pretty and you can do so much with it! I would love to have this powder in several different colors. It is very easy to use, and there was very little mess when I was done. Much cleaner than sprinkling glitter on your nails! It also didn't take much powder to do my nails. The container may seem small but a little bit goes a long ways. Definitely worth getting if you love holographic nails!!! You can find this powder on the Born Pretty Store website, here. Born Pretty Store Mirror Chrome Pigment Review

In this post, I will be reviewing some mirror chrome pigment from BornPrettyStore. The reason I chose this pigment is because I have seen so many people using the chrome powders and I have yet to try them. I chose this pigment in a teal blue color (#7) because I thought it was unique and a very pretty color. Lets take a look:
It comes in this really neat holographic package

Inside the package, you will find your container of pigment and an eye shadow-type sponge

The container is a clear square container. It reminds me of a diamond because of the way the edges are shaped

The container has a seal on it. Before I peeled it off, I tapped the container on the table a little bit to reduce the amount of powder on the inside of the seal

This powder is a beautiful white, sparkly pigment. I can't wait to see the magic happen!!! Let's take a closer look at its sparkling beauty!

The Born Pretty Store website says to use this with UV polish and No-Wipe top coat. I ordered some polishes and top coat on eBay, but it still hasn't arrived :( It looks like I will have to see what I can do with this powder with the polishes I have on hand.

I painted my nails with Funky Fingers Gesso (white) and Dark Knight (black), alternating nails. Here are the polishes I used:

After I painted my nails, I topped them with Seche Vite. Once that was very dry and hard, I did one nail at a time. Before I started my nails, I tested several different products to see what was going to work best. The best option I had on hand for this pigment was Orly Bonder. I also had better luck using a silicone "brush". It looks like a chisel and it is very soft and flexible. I got a set of 3 different silicone brushes (they aren't really brushes, they are more like tools, but the description said brush) on eBay for just over a dollar with free shipping from China. Shipping was super fast. You can see the whole set here.  This is the one I used with this pigment:

I started with my index finger. Everything was going great, until I pressed too hard. I dented the Orly Bonder! So I started over on that finger, and started on my pinky this time to let my index finger dry. I did one finger at a time so the Bonder didn't dry too much and the pigment would stick. Oh my goodness! This pigment is beautiful!! I love how different it looks over black and white polish.

This is the nail I messed up

They turned out pretty good for not having the top coat I needed! I really love how it looks over black!

Here is a macro shot over white

I am abolutely in LOVE with this pigment. I can't wait to use it again with the No-Wipe Top Coat. Even without it, this pigment is beautiful. And is very possible to use without gel polish under it. I never tested top coats over the pigment, except for regular gel top coat.

Overall, this pigment is definitely worth purchasing. I am already thinking about which other colors I would like to have! I really enjoyed applying it and seeing the color magically appear! The containers seem kind of small, but you use so little pigment for each manicure, it will last quite a while! After testing, messing up, and finally getting good results, you can't tell I have used any at all. Definitely pick up this pigment in your favorite color! It is well worth it! You can find it on the Born Pretty Store website, here. They also have tons of other great nail art supplies. Don't forget to use my coupon code for 10% off any regular priced items.

Born Pretty Store Bunny Rabbit Stamper Review

In this post, I will be reviewing the Cute Bunny Rabbit silicone stamper and scraper set from BornPrettyStore. This stamper is super cute and just in time for Easter! Let's take a look at this adorable stamper:
Isn't this the cutest stamper ever? And I love the new scrapers the stampers come with. They are smaller than the regular credit card sized scrapers. Here is a comparison I did a couple months ago:

The stamper head looked pretty shiny out of the package. Typically, when they are shiny, they wont pick up images. But I had to try it out anyway.

It picked up exactly as I figured it would

For regular stamper heads, when I have this issue, the first thing I do is give them a really good wipe with pure acetone and a clean cotton ball, then try them again. If you still aren't pleased with the results, try wiping them one more time, pressing firmly as you wipe with your acetone-soaked cotton ball. If you still aren't having much luck, you can take the smooth, finer side of your nail file and gently buff the shine off the stamper head, turning the stamper around in a circle as you buff it (you want to make sure you buff it evenly so you don't get flat spots). Let's see how this stamper did with the first wipe with acetone.
It is picking up the image perfectly, using regular nail polish! I stopped priming it here, because nothing else is needing to be done.

Here are my test stamps. The red on the left is Sinful Colors Energetic Red. The black on the right is Mundo de Unas stamping polish in black. Both of them look perfect!

Overall, I am very pleased with this stamper. It is picking up images without any issues, it is as cute as ever, and I love that it has a cover for the stamper head! It can sit on your nail polish shelf or in your drawer with all your other nail necessities and you don't have to worry about the stamper head getting damaged or dirty. If you are looking for a good stamper, or love collecting stampers, I highly recommend this one! You can find it on the Born Pretty Store website, here. They also have tons of other great nail art supplies. Don't forget to use my coupon code for 10% off any regular priced items.
